CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (ABC7) — Carlos Bell, the HIV positive former Maryland coach, is now facing 10 federal charges of child pornography Wednesday after he was previously indicted on 206 counts on Oct. 23.
According to court documents, Bell did "knowingly employ, use, persuade, induce, and entice children to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual description of such conduct."
The 206 count indictment covered 28 identified alleged victims and 14 unidentified alleged victims, according to the State's Attorney's Office for Charles County, Maryland.
According to officials, the new indictment for Bell included previous allegations in two other indictments from June 30 and July 28 and charges for additional alleged victims discovered during a police investigation.
If convicted of the alleged crimes in the indictment, officials will seek a life sentence. According the State's Attorney's officials, a trial on Bell's charges is scheduled for Jan. 8, 2018. He is currently being held without bond.
Bell, a former Charles County Public School instructional assistant, allegedly assaulted 24 students and was previously indicted on 119 counts dating back from May 2015 to June 2017.
State's Attorney's officials said the ages of the alleged victims are between 11 and 17 years old.
In July 2017, Charles Co. Sheriff's Office said as many as 10 middle school students were assaulted, seven were identified from videos, and during the time they were actively searching for more victims.
Bell admitted to authorities he was HIV positive and evidence confirmed his statement, according to a release.
